Celebrating the next generation of environmental leaders.

Inspiring and growing young leaders.

Westpac has been the Principal Sponsor of BLAKE (previously Sir Peter Blake Trust) for 15 years. In particular, Westpac supports:

  • BLAKE Inspire – a week-long environmental leadership programme for youth in partnership with the Ministry for the Environment. In 2019 Westpac supported three students’ environmental initiatives through sponsorship.
  • Young Leader Awards – each year primary and secondary schools across New Zealand are invited to nominate one promising year 5-8 student for a BLAKE Young Leader Award. In 2019 Westpac employees around the country presented more than 400 awards to students at their school assemblies.
  • BLAKE Awards - a prestigious event celebrating leadership achievement in New Zealand. The Youth Category winner this year, presented by Westpac, was Okirano Tilaia, 17, who co-ordinated the Students Uniting in Love event (a student-led initiative to spread love and peace) following the horrific Christchurch mosque shootings.
I want to be what youth, especially Pasifika, needs to see in the world.
