Dementia friendly banking

Westpac is proud to be Aotearoa’s first Dementia Friendly bank, aiming to help people with dementia to plan ahead, access financial services, and get assistance to remain independent for as long as possible. For many with dementia the environment (both internal and external), has a significant impact on their ability to access everyday activities. We have made a number of changes within our branches to improve accessibility.

Supporting seniors online

We’ve continued our partnership with SeniorNet to further support Kiwis to become more digitally active. Alongside SeniorNet we present face-to-face workshops throughout the country, supporting their Learning Centres to teach over 55s about keeping safe online, being confident with online banking, and how to use Westpac One (our online banking platform). This year we began working with those who are using cheques, to support their move to become confident with alternative forms of payment.
