The people of Aotearoa hail from many cultures and backgrounds and have a diverse range of values, skills and experiences. We draw on our enormous talent pool to cultivate a team that is rich in ability with diversity of thought, knowledge and skills. That’s why we aim to have an inclusive culture, representative of our customers and communities, and a safe and respectful environment to empower all our people to reach their full potential.

This year, we have continued He Huarahi tū Ngātahi – our Pathway to Inclusion - to improve gender pay equity and better understand our team members’ cultural identity so we can provide a more meaningful employee experience and better reflect the diversity of our team, customers and community.

We have continued our commitment to gender equality by maintaining at least 50% women in leadership positions (52% as at 30 September 2021) and published our annual Gender Pay Analysis (28.5% as at 30 September 2021). We continued our support to help prevent domestic violence by raising awareness of Shine’s work and expanded our diversity and inclusion initiatives across New Zealand with ‘Roll out the Rainbow’ awareness training in partnership with Pride Pledge.
